I created a Character Kit for my Digital Applications Class. First, I created a new 600 x 600 px Width and Height document. I started by creating the first character’s head. Using the Ellipse Tool, I drew an oval, using Inflate effect I entered the options shown in the tutorial. Then I created two more circles and in the Pathfinder panel pressed the Minus Front button. I put the newly created shape in the middle of a bigger circle. I duplicated the object and changed the direction by using the Reflect Tool. This way I created my two ears for the character. Using the Rectangle Tool I drew a small rectangle, by pressing Effect -> Warp -> Arc Lower I modified the shape to look more like a neck, less static. I created the eyes, nose and mouth, using the Object Tool for all of them. I madea hairstyle, first by drawing an ellipse, then modifying it took look like hair, Then I created the clothes, adding decorative stripes across them, I cropped the ornament using Inverse function inPathfinder. After creating my first character, I was able to start working on all the others. Followingthe same steps, I simply would change the skin tones, hairstyles, and clothes.I duplicated the created head of the character many times. Then changed each head’s skin tone.

Success:

I am happy with how many different characters I created. I believe I managed to replicate the style as well.

Fail:

I struggled to do the hair of the characters, I think more so because the Tool is not the best for this function. Also, I rushed through some of the steps or skipped them because this was a lengthy tutorial. Because of this, the final image does not look like the reference.
